Bonsai Trees My introduction to these plants and some background about them The first time I remember really noticing a bonsai tree was when I was a child watching the original "Karate Kid." I was and still am a big fan of the film, but to my point, bonsai trees make several pretty noticeable cameos throughout the course of the movie. After seeing them there, I was somewhat intrigued by the plants but didn't really know much about them. I obviously knew that they were little trees in pots often kept inside but that was about the extent of my knowledge for many years. I would sometimes see them on social media and in other films but my interest was not truly peaked until I saw a particular post about a bonsai tree being one thousand years old. I looked further on social media jumping from account to account just going down the rabbit hole of Instagram's "for you" page, and next thing I knew I was hooked by these ancient, little plants. This happened about tw...

Now that the Rabbit is in the Hat  Summary The book starts off with Brian Cox as a young child in Dundee, Scotland where he grew up with his mother, father, and three sisters. His father was a grocer in town and was widely known for his many acts of generosity. His mother was a kind woman who in Brian's eyes was simply broken down by society until she was just a shell of her once former self. In other words, his mother suffered from mental illness for many years but persevered and managed to still be a positive influence on Cox's life. A large factor in the troubles his mother endured and the poverty his family faced came as a result of his father's death from pancreatic cancer when Brain was just eight years old. After this, a young Mr. Cox found his escape from the world at the movie theater. From there, he wandered his was way onto a real stage and eventually did his studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. In a matter of years, Brian's name became m...

Rock, Paper, Scissors: The NFL’s New Tie Breaker An in-depth analysis of the NFL’s over-time rules and solutions for the future By: Jack Perez It is pretty hard to disagree that the National Football League (NFL) has faced a fair amount of controversy when it comes to settling a game that has ended in a draw. People seem to think that it’s unfair that only one team may have the opportunity to touch the football on offense. I say we just get rid of over-time completely so there won’t be an issue. I mean a game of rock, paper, scissors is pretty fair—is it not? If people want fairness, then why not just make it as simple as that and then nobody will get upset, right? Forget about playing just end it with rock, paper, scissors and then we all go home The reality is that people really don’t want fairness. Let’s take a step back and look at what we’re talking about here.  The current O.T. (over-time) rule goes like this: the game ends in a tie after 60 minutes of play and then there is ...

Putting the Rabbit in the Hat What Book and Why As the title above might give away, the book I chose to read is Putting the Rabbit in the Hat  by Brian Cox. I selected this book for a couple reasons, but the most basic of these being the fact that I liked the name of the book from the get-go and it still stood out to me the most even after I had looked at the other options. As for my second reason, Brian Cox's face and name were the only ones I recognized upon first glance at the list of books provided. Because I have never read a complete biography like this, I thought it would be best to chose a book about someone that I have at least heard of or have some sort of connection to (even if it is as simple as me being a fan of the "Jason Bourne" movies series that Mr. Cox has a role in). My final reason for choosing this book was that I had seen some reports on social media and other websites about the biography because of its gossipy and brutally honest remarks which seem...
